This is a very good novel in a very well realized series. the teen characters are well drawn and engaging, and the world building is brilliant, including aplausible reason why the younger wizards are the most powerful. Recommended for young adults of any age. I read it years ago and bought again recently. It was just as good as I remembered.
Duane's books are always good and this series is fun because the story line is rivieting, the characters are not perfect and the line between fact and fantasy is stretched
Hilarious and fun. This series is classic, philosophical, easy to read, thrilling, uplifting and just downright fascinating. NEVER get tired of them.
Not my favorite of the series but necessary for you to understand how the characters develop. The next book is wonderful and makes it worth having read this one.

The book targets young people, but I really enjoyed it. It is well told tale about good versus evil that can be enjoyed just as it is or on a deep symbolic level. I plan to read the rest of the series.
